Hello MOB fans! This is Shad Blair filling in for Oneal. He's taking care of the boy and I was breathing impatiently over his shoulder so he asked me if I wanted to write his blog. I said that I couldn't possibly...so I here I am.
I rolled into Paris about 7 last night and was able to join Michael in hosting his regular open mic at Dillon's. I walk in and get greeted with a hug/jolt to the jugular with a shoulder by Hooker...but I'm ok...now. There was some good stuff, but the hightlights were Cody Phier and Wesley Joe. Wesley Joe will be joining Oneal and I tomorrow night at Dillons for a 3-man song swap.
I hung out all day with Cody Bowen...not much talking, a lot of food, and a lot of driving. I love Paris. It is cool here from the rain yesterday and it is always theraputic being around old friends whose visits are always too far and too in between. Hope you can make it to Dillon's tomorrow night, and I think Michael is doing another thing at the Vault downtown on Thursday.
I think I'm fixing to get to go to the fair...thanks Abe. I secretly wanted to go, but didn't want anyone to know...being around kids is cool.
That's all I got...Oneal will be back tomorrow.
See you down the road.

hey, hey, i been lazy

no time for that now, i'm 2 days into a 10 gig in 12 day run, how's that sound

had a blast a tbones this weekend, seen our friends from commerce, and made a few new ones from kansas city, last night we played l&w over in grapevine, they let us play in the bar side this time instead of the dining side, same results, good food, lots of brews and stuff,

thank you wayne for getting us home, me and lp and ballgame were absolutely no help, last time wayne drove (the old van R.I.P) we spent the evening on the side of i-30, but i must say wayne did a fine job, i guess, i hit the seat and shut my eyes, woke when we got home about 5 this morning

love having that ballgame with us, his conversations in the van are really interesting, i drove on the way to grapevine, and i find myself, turning down neil young so i can hear some of john and lp's talk on astronomy,

wayne was looking at a playboy

talked to my buddy shad blair today, he's gonna be on my couch for about a week or so, help me get thru these gigs, maybe i can get him to paint my new room while i'm gone to work one day...shad's kinda lazy too, he just want to sit around and play guitar all the time

i watched potty with bear about 13 times today

he says
"you'll feel like a millionaire
when your pulling up your underwear
and you won't be scared to go anywhere
when you learn to uuuuuuuuse your potty chair"

my dad gave me a truck today, i used to drive it when i was 18, he bought a new one yesterday, and gave me the old one, that's pretty cool

nobody's ever gave me a truck before, i'm nolonger that weird guy with the beard that drives that big van (well i'am, but only on the weekends now)

see ya

wild weekend
with lots of drinkin
and not much time
to do much thinkin
and there was lots of sweatin
that lead to stinkin, lane patterson wrote that

friday night was killer, i think i always say killer, i should probably find another word, how's about super,

old bull gains opened the show, and done a stand job, rocking little 3 piece, very solid bass player, a body builder, and a front man with great stage presence, watch out for those cats

last night

we loaded on the the big trailer, did sound check, and then the lightening came, so had an hour delay, had to scratch lyrical abuse, some young hard rocking friends of mine, and then we scratched ourselves, well atleast half of us, me and johnny played a 2 piece show on the deck, and the rain never even came, but i still felt like we needed to get out of the lightening, it was pretty bad

but the show went great, the lovely ms sara coyle was there to sing with me, just like she did on the record, great job

thank you matt coyle, kyle harris, craig burns, and my old buddy shane "fred" howard, you guys made the night what it was, very memorable

back to work tomorrow
not cool

the walls and rafters are up, the glenn berry construction crew must of been heads down with the hammers swinging,

i left about 5:40 this morning, and there's was nothing but a pyle of lumber in the back yard, and when i get home about 3:30, the walls are up, the rafters are up, and the lumber yard is here dumping off some more lumber...that's progress my friend

i talked to a couple of my buddies this evening, chad farris( www.farris.com ) being the first, dude tells the best damn stories, he's in the catagory of hooker, and casey cainan at telling stories, it's like, who cares if this story is true or not, he is doing a great job at telling it

then i talked to my buddy kyle harris, thank goodness he's gonna come out and run sound for us saturday night at buffalo joes

then i spent the evening watching the end of "almost famous" (a really good movie about rock and roll and stuff rock and roll makes you do) while abe taylor ran around the house with his shirt off dripping watermelon everywhere

come on out to a show this weeekend

see ya there

whiskey and coke all the way to adairs,

here's something else i love about lp,
this is mine and lp's conversation after almost every gig,

i say "yo lp i'll pick you up about 5 tomorrow" because you know we're leaving town to go play another gig

and then the next day when lp wakes up, i get a call, and he sounds like death, and he always ask me " what time we rollin out today"

and i also love it when i get to his house to pick him up to head to the next gig, and he'll open up the van door and say "i hope you got my axes"

i love that lp

and friday is his birthday, he will be 33, and i couldn't think of a better place than hanks to be playin, it's gonna be a blast, plus old eric called tonight and said he wants to come set in with us, so it's 5 pieces of string bean cheese coming at ya, and my buddies old bull gains will be opening up the show for us

last night at adairs, was a really good time, i was very surprised to see an old friend of mine behind the bar, also good to see anna and laura, thanks for coming out, the crowd was small but cool, we stayed till they run us out, i don't like doing that on tuesday nights because it means i walk in the door at 4:30 and then walk out at 5:30 to go work, but we were just having too much fun

i must say thanks to my old man, for getting us home, we couldn't have done it with out him, because if you will remeber my opening line of this blog, well that's why

starting constuction on a new room to my house tomorrow, gonna be my guitar room, i'm kinda excited, and so is steph, i got like 5 guitars laying all over the house, and stacks of unfinished songs, and cds, and all kinds of stuff like that

oh well
goodnight
