best weekend me and the boys have had in quiet awhile, i must say...
well thursday was rough, thanks to the mavs, not only did they hurt our crowd at adairs, but they stunk it up royally on the court, i think it was like 9 points in the 4th, i'm subject to not even watch the game this evening
on to friday, in to dillions, 1st time in about a month, and 1 hell of a good time, the most tuned in crowd i think we may have ever had, thanks for coming out, and tuning in
last night was the coolest love and war gig i can remember having in awhile, or maybe ever, (you know, now that i think about it, i stayed bone sober all weekend, i wonder if that might be the reason why i think the gigs were so killer) any way, it sure was good to see all our friends that made it out, and damn good to make the new friends that we did
but today might have been the coolest,
abe taylor got me the brand new neil young 2 dvd set, heart of gold, i spent most of the afternoon watching that, shows him in 71 on the johnny cash show, and he does some very cool tunes with the legend emmylou, and i did not know that the martin he plays used to belong to hank sr.
then my boy hook calls me up, always good to talk to that ol'bandit
then the one and only casey cainan calls me up, he's in cleveland ohio, just got his hand well enough to start pickin again, (said he had to crack some heads), and that he is now the manager of the biggest traveling circus in america... and now i can say i know somebody famous
then my old friend shad blair calls me up, he's in houston, and just heard me doing one of his tunes on the radio, and he goes on to talk about how he seen the boss, and dylan, about a month ago in new orleans at the jazz festival, he said bruce puts on the best live show of anyone he has ever seen, he said he had 250 thousand people hanging on every word, so i asked him about bobby don dylan, and shad said he couldn't believe he was so closed to one of the most prolific songwriters in american history, and that when the shock wore off, and he picked his jaw up, he said he couldn't understand a word ol bob was saying, until he got to the hook,...i thought that was cool
then shad tells me he was walking out of tower records in nashville a few weeks ago, and guess who is standing by his truck, i say, i don't know, and shad says....steve earle and his wife allison, so of course i say your shitin me, and he says no i'm for real, and i say well what did you do, and shad says, hey i'm shad blair, and then he frose, and steve looks down over his shades, and after about 2 awkward seconds, he says hi shad blair, then shad got it together and pulled a remarkable conversation out of his ass, so he said
man it's been a good week
