back in blossom, sure good to be home, we got in about 9 this morning,

let us see if my mind can retrace the week,

we arrived in holland on monday, about 2:30, unloaded all the guitars, and amps, and the drum kit, enter: john moore, he was this cool cat that was working at the studio, who happened to a drummer, and he immediately told us that waynes drums needed new heads, so we sent wayne back to temple, where the nearest music store was, to pick up some new heads, thank you very much john,

my goal monday was to lay down the beef on 4 tracks, the beef being, drums, bass, and rhythm guitars, hell we laid down the 9, i only intended to put 8 full band tunes and 4 acoustic, but we now have 9 full band and 4 acoustic, we worked until about 2am, all them gigs paid off,

i roomed with mcclure all week, never a dull moment, it's like there's always a song in his head, he just sings lines to cool ass songs at random, all the time, and he had some very cool ideas for our tunes, he tried some things on us he had never done before, and i'm very proud of the way it turned out,

tuesday was kind of a slow day, lp was down and out because of the goodtime he had on monday, we laid down the acoustic tracks, and added a few things to the rhythm on the tunes we did on monday, the tunes are taking more shape, then about midnight wesely joe and lindsey came by on there way to austin, and had a few beers with us, good to see those boys

steve palousek was the engineer, and it will blow your mind how he hears the music, it's really cool to watch him work that big board with all those nobs, he also played the lap steel on a couple of tunes, and he broke out the dobro for one,

wed was alot like tue, more just tweaking on what we had, fixing this and that, redoing this and that, i also resang all the vocals that day,

but the coolest thing of the day, was when mcclure told me that the record is going to get mastered by joe hardy, he was the head engineer on several records for zz top, and he also produced "the hard way" which is a steve earle record that came out in 90...made my jaw drop

sara came in late on wed., and done some harmony, plus "screamin" is now a duet, i think it sounds awesome, thank you sara,

thursady things got real cool, we had to start late because we went until 4am the night before, but once we started, every tune we did took the final shape,

jermey watkins came in and put some fiddle on a couple of tunes, eric put all the leads down,

and johnny from the deadringers came out to hang, he picked me one of his tunes and it blew me away, the dude is 20 years old and he writes like he's 50, if you ever get a chance, check out the deadringers,

i found out that tom skinner was coming to the motel that night, so i asked mcclure to see if he would come down to the studio and record the song called "i love this game", because i can't get my hands on it anywhere, and i remember a couple of years ago i heard skinner play it, and i've never forgot about it, or been able to find it, i just wanted my own little copy...for myself, of one of the coolest dudes, with the coolest voice, doing one of the coolest tunes i've ever heard,

the tune is called "i love this game" and it's a story about a minor league ball player, it's freakin killer,

then i get to sit listen to a few old stories, one about gram parsons, that was cool

well i'm sure i left something out

but we got a good record out of the deal,

and it's coming at you real soon,

adios
mo
